| The inspiration for my work resides within emotional experience and response to the natural world. Images seek to create a sense of place, time, and atmosphere through the use of light, layering, and color. The ancient medium of encaustic, which uses beeswax mixed with natural tree resin, and fused with heat, provides an ideal layered medium for light to play through and over color. The painting process and the inherent qualities of the medium and pigments influence the outcome of each piece. |
