About Pamela Wallace

Art work was my favorite pastime as a child. I also loved science and the relationship between form and function. Various influences led me to the study of medicine followed by psychiatry. The need to be doing art eventually took precedence over medicine. I closed my practice and began to pursue a B.A. equivalent in studio art.

Living in rural central Virginia, the natural world heavily influences my work. Reading, writing poetry, and journaling, keep me in touch with my inner world. This combination has been generative for my art. While learned and well practiced methods predominate in the studio, there are days that I just enjoy experimenting with different materials, tools, and methods. New techniques for achieving desired imagery often arise from this experimentation.

Printmaking resonates with my love of science and attention to detail. The use of pigmented beeswax and oil stick add a sensuous alchemy to the mix. These art forms lure me to the studio, daily, to see what will emerge.
