| Derived from a previous body of collagraph prints, each work in "Sacred Places" has been process oriented, beginning with a horizon line and a grid of irregular cells. Layers of color and linear elements are manipulated with heat, and scraped, creating depth and form. All images allude to that which we must hold inviolate - at the microscopic or macroscopic level - to survive as individuals or as a species. Gold and silver leaf may be applied in varying degree, symbolic of elements valued in cultures across time and space. (click on an image to see a larger version with more information) |
